Michael Bay denies that he's 'sodomizing' Ninja Turtles

Fans were skeptical from the beginning, and when Michael Bay announced that his vision for a new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie would see the turtles originate as part of an alien race -- which belies their "mutant" origins -- that skepticism turned to anger. Even the actor who voiced Michelangelo in the original movie said that Bay was "sodomizing" the "TMNT" legacy. But Bay's had enough. He posted a message on the "official Michael Bay forum" site Shoot For the Edit and said, "Fans need to take a breath and chill. They have not read the script ... Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world." Got that? Chill.

'John Carter' was a very expensive failure

Add "John Carter" to a list that includes "Cutthroat Island," "The Alamo" and "Heaven's Gate" as one of the biggest box office flops ever. The movie cost $250 million to make (plus, $100 million to promote) but has earned only $43 million domestically since its March 9 release, a shortfall that has been blamed on weak marketing and dispassionate fanboys. Disney said today it expects to take a $200 million loss on the film. The movie stars Taylor Kitsch as a Confederate soldier transported to Mars. Compelling stuff.
